I was watching That '70s Show last night when I realized, man, parents in TV shows are really dumb. Eric, the main character, is going skiing with a bunch of his friends, and he takes a huge bag of pot with him. (I mean, who doesn't love skiing while high?) His mom comes out and puts some sandwiches in the back of the car so they have something to eat on the way to the ski house. When she sees the bag of pot just laying out (smart move Eric) she realizes its pot like a normal mom and tries to kill Eric and the ski trip gets canceled, right? No, she thinks they are taking a bag of oregano with them so they can make Italian food at the ski house. What normal person wouldn't suspect that a bunch of teenagers from the '70s would have weed in their car? I understand that no one wants to watch a show that is completely and totally realistic, but come on, why does it have to be so far from reality.
Another thing about TV that drives me absolutely insane: reality TV shows. Nothing about reality TV is real. Everything is just fake scenarios, fake emotions, and fake sell outs that want more money. For example, Jon and Kate plus 8 (or whatever its called now that Jon has left). I feel that Jon and Kate were a little low on cash and wanted an easy way to make lots of money by shoving there kids into the cameras and reading teleprompters. What did they get? Money, stress, and a divorce. This isn't the only reality TV show that has led to divorce, in fact, I can't think of one that hasn't led to divorce or the destruction of great relationships. Why should we at home get to laugh and enjoy the fake reality while the actors involved are ripped apart?
I am so sick of TV shows and the stupidity behind them, but sadly, I'm hooked to many shows. TV writers may be idiots, but they are good at what they do. Anyways, that was my rant for today, look forward to another amazing rant on Thursday!! :D
